To host or not to host?
That is the question...

Hey music junkie,
What an intense couple of days it has been. From barely doing anything in hospital the previous week to waking up at 6am everyday because of work, talk about contrast!
But I'm not complaining. It's been a beautiful couple of days. Hosting a podcast trainers workshop with the Santuri team has taught us A LOT. Including how to train other people in a fun, engaging and vulnerable way.
Other than learning, I also got an opportunity to do what I love. Which is guide people on the best events and places to visit in Nairobi. When one new friend from Egypt said Thursday night at The Mist was her first time dancing in public, that touched me deeply.

We not only shared event experiences but also continental cuisines and our deepest feelings with each other. Check out this beautiful cultural exchange on Instagram.
Also, thank you to everyone who showed up for Whispers of Power by Liboi last Saturday. What an immersive and emotional show that was. I'll write a full review for you soon.
In the meantime, here's what you can look forward to. Hint: You'll definitely see me there.
PODCAST OF THE WEEK
Mourning the Dead
Speaking of podcasts, your girl has been hard at work. Not on my own (yet) but in voicing a podcast in Swahili!
Mourning the Dead tells the untold histories connected to the remains of African people during the colonial and post colonial era. In this fifth and final episode, you will learn about the second Chimurenga war and its effects in Zimbabwe. Listen to the English version for comprehension and then the Swahili version to improve your vocabulary (or vice versa).
EVENTS OF THE WEEK
Soul'd Duets album listening session + Q&A
Have you listened to the new Soul’d Duets album by Kenyan-American producer Waithaka? What's your favourite song and why?
Come listen to it this Thursday and hear the background stories behind this soulful Kenyan album. And meet the various artists featured in it, from Ythera to Jivu Music. And yes, your girl will be hosting the special session at Santuri Salon.
Waithaka's 20th year music celebration
This Saturday is a BIG day for Kenyan music. That's because Waithaka, the prolific producer who's worked with some of the best Kenyan artists is celebrating 20 years in the industry!
Honestly, I cannot wait to watch some of my favourite Kenyan musicians including Ayrosh, Zaituni Wambui, Serro, Kwame Rigii and Wanavokali LIVE. And Chris Barr who I recently discovered and absolutely LOVE. Do you have your celebration ticket yet?
It will be an absolute honour to see you at one (or both) of these events. Did I mention I'll be hosting both? Busy weekend incoming!
Until next time,
Stay high on music
