What Do You Wanna Manifest?

Now is the perfect time...

Hey music junkie,

When someone you haven't seen in a while asks how you've been, what do you say? Busy, fine, or “I don't know”?

I usually go with busy - working hard and playing hard. And that's exactly how last weekend was. With 4 events back to back, I barely caught enough sleep.

First of was TCHNO Takeover on Friday night at The Mist. After moderating the panel discussion on techno vs tech house, I retreated to Santuri Salon to rest and reflect. Thank God for jaba juice though.

Even though I left at 6AM, I was back at The Mall at 2PM for another event. This time it was a book launch based on a gospel drill EP. Yup, you read that right. After experiencing a special live performance by Kenyan rapper 46K, we each received a copy of his new book Drip which is all about his eponymous EP.

Who knew you could do that?

After recording my second mix, I joined the underground party at Munyu Space. Metropolis was a mix of live performances and EDM DJ sets, from techno to house. How we ended up closing at 8AM on Sunday, only God knows.

And after catching a few winks of sleep, I was back on the Nairobi streets. The grand finale was Sunday Acoustic Soul Session which I mentioned last week. And as promised, the soulful Nduta Notes, Cheruu, N’Jiru and Njerae all serenaded us with their beautiful music. Even the rain cheered them on. Oh, what a night!

Nduta and I twinning, can you see it?

And because it was such a lovely show, I created a playlist of some of the soulful songs they performed. A collection of Kenyan R&B tracks that will soothe your heart. You will love it!

Now here are some opportunities and events to look forward to this new moon!

EVENTS OF THE WEEK

Sonic Mass at Munyu Space

After many months of attending a listening workshop at Munyu Space, it's time for an exhibition! 13 different creatives have created a joint sound exhibition aptly named Sonic Mass.

Join these multipassionates at the opening night on Friday 6pm. And experience different sounds in one underground space, as if you're in a rainforest full of birds and monkeys and all other kinds of animals. You can catch the exhibition any day except Monday.

Nairobi Dub Club at The Mall

Have you missed listening to reggae and dub music? After a 3-month hiatus, I'm happy to announce Nairobi Dub Club is finally back!

The Umojah Sound System crew have been busy in the UK collecting fresh dub records during their festival run. And they’re ready to drop some faya tunes this Saturday on the baddest speakers in town. Call it a homecoming party!

Blankets & Wine - October edition

The next big event in Nairobi after Folk Fusion is always Blankets & Wine. And we simply cannot miss this edition because have you seen the lineup?!

I'm honestly looking forward to seeing Fadhilee Itulya, Charisma and Sun El Musician on the main stage. Plus the fiery MC Yallah and spiritual Simila on the Onja Onja stage. How about you?

And those are some of the coolest events happening in Nairobi this weekend. Remember to keep your vibrations high during this new moon/ solar eclipse season so you can manifest your heart’s desires. Including free tickets!

Until next time,
Stay high on music
