Money loves you, do you? 😏
Let's talk about it

Hey music junkie,
That was the first sentence on the first slide of the presentation. Money loves you. How do you feel about that statement?
This is how Olivia Ambani started her Money Conversations workshop last Wednesday at Embe Creatives. And while contemplating about our relationship with money, she reminded us about MMFs, bonds, pensions, saccos and other investment options. Honestly, the reason I know what most of these are is because of her insightful Money Conversations live series on Instagram.
My biggest takeaway from that session: focus on what you want money to do for you, then work around that.
Afterwards, I visited Krb.Nrb’s studio with a new acquaintance so that she could get her first button. But before she did, we admired everything in that tiny studio. From colourful paintings to branded tees to fridge magnets featuring the coolest Mall in Nairobi.

Can you see it?
We also played a gîcandî, a special Gîkûyû gourd which sounds like the ocean when you tilt it back and forth. I am not even kidding. You just have to hear it for yourself.
And before we left, Wango invited us to a cool Krb.Nrb event happening this weekend. More details below!
Meanwhile at The Mist, Cameroonian guest DJ made us Skriim at The Clearing thanks to his bumpy African electronic sounds. And on Thursday, we attended Hadithi Hangout Chapter 2 at The Salon. Not only did we read “Ten Cities” about Nairobi's club culture in the 1960s but we also listened to some of the biggest hits of the time. And if you know me, you know I had to boogie to some of them.
You can revisit these forgotten classics in this exclusive Kenyan playlist. Because Kenyan music is the gift just keep on giving!
Even though I didn't attend Faraja Chillout as planned, it was a great success. And I finally recorded and released a DJ mix after planning for the whole of October. Ready to hear it?
MIX OF THE MONTH
DJ Raha presents Kenyan House Music
For my third mix, this one is dedicated to one of the biggest club genres in Nairobi - and probably one of your favourites. If you guessed Afrohouse, you're absolutely correct. But not just from anywhere but right here in Kenya!
In this 1hr musical journey, get ready to discover old and new Kenyan House bangers from Makadem, Suraj, and even Sofiya Nzau (no it's not Mwaki). I bet one of them will make you wanna stand up and dance 💃🏾

Hakuna Utopia? exhibition by Kairos Futura
When you think of Nairobi's future, do you imagine a gloomy rundown city from a Hollywood apocalypse movie? Well Kairos Futura is here to change that.
Through their ongoing art exhibition Hakuna Utopia? this cool collective of artists and scientists challenge us to imagine a utopian Nairobi which actually works for us. And this Saturday, Krb.Nrb will take us through a guided tour plus an engaging conversession on how we can create a better future for the next genZs. Did I mention you get free merch? 😏
Nairobi Dub Club presents Alborosie at The Mall
And for the biggest sherehe of the weekend, it's time to skank to reggae and dub music! The mighty Nairobi Dub Club is bringing to Kenya two international heavyweights: Alborosie from Jamaica and King Shiloh from Netherlands.
To serve that Kenyan reggae flavour, Empress Kare, First Lady Nazizi and Ras Lavosti will also be pon de mic. If you love positive music, irie vibes, and a powerful sound system, this is where you need to be. See you on the dancefloor! 🕺🏾
That's it for now. Remember to take it easy cause it's going to be one long fun-tastic weekend.
In the meantime, let me continue reading Rich Dad Poor Dad. Because money loves me, and you too 🙂
Until next time,
Stay high on music
