It's time to bloom!

But how?

Hey music junkie,

How are you enjoying the rain in Nairobi? Or is it sunny where you are?

Typical Kenyan greetings, I know.

Even though Blankets and Wine was postponed last Sunday, I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Maybe you attended the Shujaaz Memorial Concert at Uhuru Park. Which renewed our collective love for Kenya and unity as Kenyans #LiveAndDieinAfrika 🇰🇪

Or maybe you attended the fourth edition of Kenyan Reggae Night at The Mist. Even though the turnout was low, the vibes were massive. So much that we were dancing till 5am.

#PlayKeReggae

As we continue standing up against oppressive politicians and for our fellow citizens, here are a few places to regain your mental strength. And gain new perspectives. Not to mention new friends.

You never know where your next lover may be 😏

EVENTS OF THE WEEK

Blooms in The Dark

Let's be honest… When is the last time you watched a Kenyan play? Well you’re in luck because this is not your ordinary play.

Blooms in The Dark is a theatrical adaptation of a Kenyan podcast of the same name. With a stellar cast of Riki Gathariki, Joseph Obel, Seise Bagbo and more, expect a fusion of music, dance and storytelling with big topics such as queer love, Kenyan politics, and the finance bill. After almost 2 months of constant rehearsals at Creatives Garage, you can bet this 2 show-only play is going to be legendary!

Dance Life Festival 2024

Here's another event that's only happening once this year. Dance Life Festival will bring some of the best traditional and contemporary dancers from Kenya, Tanzania and Germany to enchant us with their fluid movement.

With music interludes by Afrofusion musicians Ambasa Mandela and Akoth Jumadi, it's going to be a wholesome weekend of entertainment. All happening at the newly renovated Kenya National Theatre.

Did I mention both nights are free?

Wherever you are, may you work hard and play hard too. And of course REJECT and OCCUPY whatever you need to.

Oh, and a little rain is good for you 🙂

Until next time,
Stay high on music
