Hey music junkie,

Welcome to August! What are you leaving behind in July? Let's say it together…

Baridi!

What was your July highlight though? Was it attending Blankets and Wine last Sunday? From the IG posts and Xs(?) I hear it was LIT.

Personally, I had the time of my life at TCHNO on Friday. I never thought techno music could hit so hard. All I remember is jumping like a wild woman on the dancefloor to heavy DJ sets by [M], Mescadi and a Naija broda called Scalarbane.

Talk about getting high on music!

I always say, if you leave a party at 6am you know it was a good night 😎

In today's newsletter, I got some revolutionary stuff for you. Because no matter what, bado mapambano ✊🏾

But first, here are some opportunities for you to make that mullah (and networks) from your art and creativity.

MIX OF THE WEEK

Pamoja Kazini

If you need something to fan the fire under your Gen Z belly, this magic mix is it. One of my favourite conscious Kenyan DJs Mtwotisa made it for Rebel! FM on Berlin’s Cashmere Radio.

The title “Pamoja Kazini” comes from our proud national anthem, which actually kicks off this unique mix. Expect revolutionary reggae songs, maandamano anthems and even voices of protesters on the streets. To remind you this is just the beginning of something big ✊🏾

EVENT OF THE WEEK

Too Early for Birds: Tom Mboya

Be honest, have you missed Too Early for Birds? Or have you heard the hype online and are curious what this show about? Well you're about to find out.

TEFB is back this weekend (Friday - Sunday) after a 2 year hiatus to retell the incredible story of fallen hero Tom Mboya, 55 years after his assasination. With a stellar cast of Ngartia, Elsaphan Njora, Nyokabi Macharia plus more Kenyan actors, you can be sure this storytelling show will be one for the history books!

I don't know about you, but I'll be spending my weekend soaking in all this Kenyan history and music. And in case the cold is getting to you, listen to Bensoul's new album. It's pretty hot!

Until next time,
Stay high on music
